Warning: this is total shit code. please understand that i wrote it
as a distraction from "real work", and i used it as a lightning rod
for my less pleasing coding-style impulses. i can hardly believe i'm
releasing it, but i've had many requests for the source code, and i
don't have time to work on it so, i figured maybe someone else in
net-land would do something useful with it. if so, please keep me
informed!

i use this software to 1) make nice big still images (good spatial
antia makes all the difference) (see hqi.c) 2) make screen savers
(xlock, see my home page) 3) make mpeg movies (does motion blur, and
NTSC fields) (see anim.c). the program called "flame" is the
interactive editor (good luck remembering its kbd commands :).
there's also a pvm mpeg version, and the beginnings of a tcl
interface.

the code is pretty simple; i've compiled it on just about everything
at one time or other without difficulty.
